When you’ve purchased your Sharp TVs and have them all set up, the next step of the process is hooking up your Sharp TVs with the other components of your home theater system. The first step is creating a wiring diagram. Map out each component of your home theater system and draw the wires that connect each of the components of your Sharp TVs system that needs to be connected. These connections should be fairly simple to make because the wiring diagram will show exactly where each cable goes.
First, you’ll connect the DVD player. If you remember that DVD players only have outputs, you’ll be fine. Most DVD players feature composite, S-Video, and component video outputs as well as coaxial and optical digital audio outputs. You should have already decided which type of connection you are using, so you should look for that connection type on the rear of the DVD player.

Most DVD players that go with Sharp TVs have a label on each output. If the outputs are not labeled, look closely at the instruction manual for your DVD player to determine which connection types are available. If you’ve chosen to use an optical digital audio cable, there is most likely a dust cap on the output for that cable. If your DVD player is plugged into a power source and you don’t see a red light in the optical digital output, the dust cap is probably still in place. Remove the dust cap by pulling it out and store it in a safe place.
Connect the cables once you’ve determined which type of connection you should use. When you lay out the cables, make a good attempt at keeping the cables that carry audio and the cables that carry video signals separated from the power cords. If you cross these cords over the power cords, try to cross the cables at 90-degree angles to avoid interference.

The next step in connecting the components of your Sharp TVs is to connect the receiver. This is the most rigorous step in the process of setting up your Sharp TVs. If you drew a wiring diagram, this step is simple. It’s good practice to wire each component individually and check the connections before moving onto another component. After the components are wired and configured, the speaker wires need to be connected from the receiver to the speakers.
